USA Student Visa Checklist

 

1. VISA APPLICATION FORMS

 
  • Form DS-160 – Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application

  • Form I-20 – Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status (issued by your U.S. school)

  • SEVIS Fee Receipt – Proof of SEVIS I-901 fee payment


 

2. Valid Passport

 
  • Passport valid at least six months beyond your intended stay in the U.S.

  • Previous passports (if applicable)


 

3. Visa Fee Receipts

 
  • Visa application (MRV) fee payment receipt

  • SEVIS I-901 fee payment confirmation


 

4. Photograph

 
  • Recent passport-sized photo (per U.S. visa photo requirements, 2×2 inches)


 

5. Academic Documents

 
  • Transcripts, mark sheets, and certificates of previous education

  • Standardized test scores (TOEFL, IELTS, GRE, GMAT, SAT, etc., if required)

  • Admission/acceptance letter from U.S. institution


 

6. Financial Documents

 
  • Bank statements (last 3–6 months)

  • Proof of funds (to cover tuition + living expenses)

  • Affidavit of Support (if sponsor is funding your education)

  • Income tax returns of sponsor (if applicable)


 

7. Interview Appointment Documents

 
  • Visa Appointment Confirmation Letter (from U.S. Embassy/Consulate scheduling system)

  • DS-160 confirmation page with barcode


 

8. Supporting Documents

 
  • Statement of Purpose (study plan, goals, reasons to return)

  • Resume/CV (if required)

  • Scholarship/assistantship letters (if any)

  • Work experience certificates (if applicable)


 

9. Visa Interview Preparation

✅ Tip:

  • For F-1 Visa (academic students) → You must enroll full-time in a U.S. school/university.

  • For M-1 Visa (vocational students) → Proof of funding for the entire duration of the course is mandatory.
